ELON – Elon redshirt senior punter
Jeff Yurk was honored as the National Special Teams Player of the Week by Stats Perform Monday afternoon.
Yurk had a career day in Elon's 37-31 win over Western Carolina. He punted six times against the Catamounts with five punts for 50+ yards. Yurk booted a career long 74-yarder in the win which helped him notch another Elon football record. He now holds the record for punting average in a game at Elon (55.2), which was a record that stood for 17 years.
The Southern Pines native holds the national lead in punting average for FCS (51.4) and is ranked second in all of college football. This comes off a season where he finished first in the FCS in punting and third across all divisions of college football.
Yurk and the Phoenix return to the gridiron this Saturday against East Tennessee State. Kickoff between Elon and the Buccaneers will be at 5:30 PM in Johnson City, Tenn.
