WAYNESVILLE – The Elon men's golf team ended the second round of the JT Poston Invitational in a tie for 10th place after carding a 4-over-par 284 on Monday at the Waynesville Inn and Golf Club.
The Phoenix sits at 10-over (570) through 36 holes played. Southern Miss (-9), Western Carolina (-6), Kennesaw State (-5), Drexel (-2) and Wofford (-2) round out the top five with one round to go.
Jack Wieler led Elon on day two, climbing 15 spots into a tie for 17th place individually with a 1-under 69. The junior was bogey free on the back nine, notching birdies on holes 10 and 18. Freshman
Bence Somogyi shot even par 70 in his second collegiate round for Elon's second-best score of the day.
The Phoenix improved as Monday progressed, collectively shooting 1-over on the back nine after going 9-over on the front nine.
