TITLE DEFENSE
Jack Wieler will anchor the Elon lineup as its No. 1 golfer as he seeks a repeat performance in Myrtle Beach the next three days. Wieler won a three-way share of the MBGTI individual title as a sophomore last September with a 9-under-par 207, joining Santa Clara's J.P. Odland and UTEP's Dylan Teeter. The win set the tone for an impressive 2024-25 season for Wieler, who went on to earn a spot on the All-CAA first team in the spring. Elon finished fifth out of 14 teams in the 2024 edition of the tournament with an 11-under 853.
NEW FACES, SAME ELON
Much has changed in Elon's personnel department since the Phoenix captured its first CAA Championship last spring and advanced to the NCAA Bremerton Regional. Outside of the veteran Wieler, Elon's lineup in Myrtle Beach will feature four newcomers – all freshmen – who will make their collegiate debuts. The talented quartet features three North Carolina products –
William Carr (Raleigh),
Dylan Lewis (Wilmington) and
Drew Yeagley (Waxhaw) – while
Martin Saquicoray hails from Madrid, Spain.
IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT
Elon men's golf head coach Don enters his 12th year at the program's helm in 2025-26. Hill was honored as the 2024-25 CAA Coach of the Year following the Phoenix's impressive conference title win in New Jersey last April, in addition to six other top-five finishes during the season. With six total freshmen on the 10-man roster this year, Hill will look to blend Elon's mix of experienced and unproven as the five-tournament fall season unfolds.
