RICHMOND, Va. – Elon University men's soccer players Jackson Leavitt and Dominik Renz took home CAA honors for a second straight week, as announced by the conference on Monday. Leavitt earned his second straight CAA Defensive Player of the Week honor, while Renz netted another CAA Rookie of the Week recognition.
Leavitt posted a pair of shutouts in goal last week for the Phoenix. He stopped Radford's lone shot on goal Tuesday in a 2-0 road victory before blanking College of Charleston on Saturday with a three-save effort in a 1-0 win. Leavitt leads the CAA in save percentage (.917), goals against average (.250) and shutouts (3) through Elon's first four games this season.
Renz repeated as CAA Rookie of the Week after scoring his second game-winning goal in as many CAA games for the Phoenix on Saturday. He produced Elon's lone goal in a 1-0 victory over conference foe College of Charleston, scoring in the 61st minute on a feed from Colin Veltri. Renz, who leads the Phoenix with five points this season, also added an assist in Elon's victory over Radford on Tuesday.
The unbeaten Phoenix returns to the pitch Saturday for a non-conference clash at home against USC Upstate. The game at Rudd Field will begin at 7 p.m.
