Track & Field Returns To Action At Mondo College Invitational

ELON – The Elon University women's track and field team returns to action this Saturday, competing at the Mondo College Invitational hosted at the JDL Fast Track Complex in Winston-Salem.

ELON SCHEDULED ENTRIES  
ELON OPENS INDOOR SLATE AT LIBERTY AND BOSTON
  • The Phoenix opened its 2025-26 campaign with groups splitting competition between the Liberty Kickoff and the Sharon Colyear-Danville Opener in Boston.
  • At the Liberty Kickoff, throwers Adriana Clarke and Isabella Johnson set new personal records in the weight throw, with Clarke posting a mark of 18.14m and Johnson recording 17.33m. Johnson also added a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 13.99m.
  • Lizzie Lopez finished third in the pentathlon, scoring 3,510 points at Liberty. Shayla Cann clocked a time of 1:15.63 in the 500-meter dash, moving into the program's top-10 performance list.
  • At the Sharon Colyear-Danville Opener, Sarah Petitjean and Hannah Weber each established new personal bests. Petitjean ran 9:49.97 in the 3,000 meters, while Weber posted a time of 16:29 in the 5,000 meters.
 
ELITE UNDER ELLISTON
  • Elon Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Mark Elliston is in his 20th season at the helm of the Phoenix. Under his guidance, Elon has captured a combined seven CAA titles in indoor and outdoor track & field, along with four runner-up finishes.
  • A six-time CAA Women's Track & Field Coach of the Year, Elliston and his staff coached 10 All-CAA honorees at last year's indoor championships, including two event champions. The Phoenix also saw three school records fall and several program top-10 marks added during the season.
 
ON DECK
Elon is scheduled to compete at three meets next weekend, with groups traveling to the Hokie Invitational (Jan. 23-24), the Liberty Open (Jan. 23-24) and the JDL Banked Is Better Invitational (Jan. 25).
