ELON – The Elon women's track & field team opened the 2026 outdoor season with several standout performances while hosting the Phoenix Invitational on Friday at the Jerry and Jeanne Robertson Track & Field Complex.
Junior
Jaqueline Zacharias highlighted the day for the Phoenix, setting a new school record in the javelin throw with a mark of 44.93 meters, surpassing the previous program record by 0.22 meters.
Sophomore
Isabella Johnson also delivered a strong showing in the throws, setting personal bests in both the hammer throw and shot put. Johnson recorded a throw of 57.45 meters in the hammer, which ranks second all-time in program history, and posted a mark of 13.88 meters in the shot put, good for fifth on Elon's all-time list.
In the distance events,
Katie Blount and
Jasmine Young each recorded outdoor personal bests in the 3,000-meter. Blount won the event with a time of 9:44.05, while Young finished second at 9:56.64. Blount's time moves her to fourth all-time on Elon's outdoor 3,000-meter performance list, while Young stands at 10th all-time.
The Phoenix also picked up several event victories across the meet.
Hannah Schonhoff won the high jump,
Mia Stimpson captured the 100-meter hurdles,
Mary Sollars earned the win in the 400 meters, and
Abby Beville claimed the 800-meter title. Elon closed the meet with another victory in the 4x400-meter relay, as
Amelie Meier, Sollars,
Teri Pridgen, and Duna Viñals combined to secure the win for the Phoenix.
