RICHMOND, Va. – Elon took home its second straight CAA Defensive Player of the Week honor Monday with
Magnus Jacobsen getting the nod as the conference released its final weekly men's soccer awards.
Jacobsen scored a goal and played a team-high 88 minutes Saturday night in Elon's 3-0 victory over Campbell at Rudd Field. The goal was Jacobsen's second in conference play and third overall on the season. The sophomore was one of two Phoenix defenders to score against the Camels with
Joe Taylor also netting a goal.
Jacobsen has helped Elon's back line produce three straight clean sheets and over 300 consecutive minutes of shutout soccer. Elon's defense limited Campbell to just five total shot attempts and no shots on goal in Saturday's victory.
Three different Phoenix have now won CAA Defensive Player of the Week this season – Taylor (two times), Jacobsen and
Drew Hartman, who earned the honor last week. This is the first time 2022 that three different Phoenix have won CAA Defensive Player of the Week in the same season.
Elon kicks off the CAA Tournament on Thursday. The Phoenix is the No. 2 seed from the South Division and will welcome No. 3 seed College of Charleston to Rudd Field for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
