DORADO, Puerto Rico – Jack Wieler and
Drew Yeagley both shot 2-under-par 70 and the Elon men's golf team ended its opening round of the 2026 spring season in first place at the Dorado Beach Collegiate on Sunday.
The Phoenix shot an even-par 288 across the first 18 holes at TPC Dorado Beach and will enter the second round with a one-stroke advantage on the field, with the top six teams separated by just five shots.
Wieler carried Elon – which started on holes 10-13 – through the back nine, tallying four birdies in a five-hole span between No. 11-15 despite a trio of bogeys as well. The Phoenix tightened it up on the front of TPC Dorado Beach, with Yeagley and Wieler playing bogey-free golf on the way to nine-hole scores of 33 and 35, respectively. Yeagley closed the round with poise, notching birdies on No. 5, 6 and 9 to climb the leaderboard late.
Landon Durham bolstered the team's performance on the front nine with an even-par 36.
Wieler and Yeagley are two of six golfers tied for second individually, trailing clubhouse leader BJ Boyce (UNCG) by only one stroke.
