DORADO, Puerto Rico – The Elon men's golf team closed the Dorado Beach Collegiate with a 3-under-par 285 in Tuesday's final round to finish fourth overall. The Phoenix posted their lowest score of the 54-hole event at TPC Dorado Beach and ended the tournament at 2-under 862 (288-289-285).
Three Phoenix finished among the top 13 individually, led by freshman
Dylan Lewis, who shot a 2-under 70 in the final round to tie for third at 4-under 212 (74-68-70).
Jack Wieler rebounded from a 3-over 75 in Monday's second round with a 3-under 69 Tuesday to tie for seventh at 2-under 214, while
Drew Yeagley tied for 13th at even-par 216.
Lewis notched birdies on Nos. 2, 11 and 17 to offset a bogey on No. 8. Wieler was 4-under through 16 holes before a double bogey on No. 17 but closed with a birdie on No. 18 to finish with a team-best 69.
Elon shot a collective 8-under on the back nine, with all five golfers recording at least two birdies and combining for 11 total, along with one double bogey and one bogey.
Stetson (-15) won the title by eight strokes, outpacing Southern Miss (-7), UNCG (-4), Elon and George Mason (-1).
