ELON – Elon baseball will host Fairfield this weekend for a three-game series at Latham Park. Elon (4-4) looks to bounce back after four straight losses while Fairfield (0-5) is looking for its first win of the 2026 season.

The series will feature a matchup between Elon right-handed pitcher Sam Nomura and his twin brother Luke Nomura, an infielder for Fairfield. This will be the first time the two face off during their college careers.

All three games will be streamed on FloCollege.

QUICK HITS
  • Elon trails 1-2 in the all-time series against Fairfield, having played a three-game series in 2022 at Latham Park. Fairfield took the first two games of the series before Elon rebounded on Sunday for a 7-4 win.
  • Sam Nomura has been a top reliever in college baseball heading into the weekend. Nomura is the only relief pitcher in Division I with four appearances, eight or more innings pitched, and no runs allowed.
  • The bullpen trio of Nomura, RJ Latkowski, and Mike Staiano have been one of the best in the nation. The three have combined for more than 20 innings of relief through eight games and have not allowed a run. Latkowski leads the Phoenix in saves (2) and Staiano is second on the team in strikeouts (9).
  • Senior Jackson Alford has continued his All-CAA form from 2025 to start this season, batting a team-best .500 (10-for-20) through seven games. In 2026, Alford is in the top five in the CAA in batting average (.500), slugging percentage (.750), on-base percentage (.560), runs scored (9) and stolen bases (6).
  • Jake Hajdu has also picked up where he finished the 2025 season with a strong start to his sophomore campaign. Through seven games, Hajdu has racked up a CAA-leading 11 RBI. Hajdu did not reach the double-digit RBI mark until April 25 last season.
  • Over the last five games, graduate outfielder Brian DuRoff has caught fire. Against Longwood, he extended his hitting streak to six games with his third multi-hit game in the last five. Since Elon's win over Presbyterian, DuRoff is batting .429 (9-for-21) with two home runs and seven RBIs.
  • Veteran pitcher Brian Strange has cemented himself as Elon's Friday night starter. Despite earning the loss against Charleston Southern, Strange pitched a season-high 5.2 innings and struck out a season-high seven batters.
  • Following a 25-32 (13-14 CAA) season in 2025, Elon was picked in a tie for fourth in the 2026 CAA preseason poll.
  • Head coach Mike Kennedy enters his 30th season at the helm of Elon Baseball. After earning 25 wins last season, Kennedy has led the Phoenix to 24 seasons of 25 wins or more. Kennedy is a 2025-26 Elon Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
