Elon Set For CAA Series At UNCW

Phoenix Takes Three-Game Win Streak To Wilmington

ELON – After an upset win at No. 10 NC State on Tuesday, Elon continues its nine-game road trip with a CAA series at UNCW this weekend.

The three-game set marks the first of two weekend series between the Phoenix (9-7, 2-1 CAA) and Seahawks (11-6, 0-0) during the 2026 season.

All three games will be streamed on FloCollege. Audio broadcasts will also be available on the Varsity Network App.

 QUICK HITS
  • Elon trails 38-54 in the all-time series against UNCW. The Phoenix has lost seven straight games to Seahawks, with its last win coming in 2023. Over the past 15 years, the two have met in the regular season, CAA Tournament and NCAA Tournament.
  • Elon enters the weekend riding a three-game win after its 2-0 win against the Wolfpack. The Phoenix shut out the Wolfpack for the first time in the 60-game all-time series.
  • RJ Latkowski has emerged as one of the top closers in college baseball early this season. Latkowski currently leads the Phoenix and is second nationally with five saves.
  • The bullpen trio of Sam Nomura, Latkowski and Mike Staiano has been among the best in the nation. The three have combined for more than 34 innings of relief through 16 games while allowing just two runs.
  • Senior Jackson Alford has continued his All-CAA form from 2025, leading the Phoenix in most offensive categories through 16 games. He most recently recorded a multi-hit game with three stolen bases Tuesday at No. 10 NC State. Alford leads the country in stolen bases per game (1.2) and is second nationally in stolen bases (18).
  • Outfielder Brian DuRoff helped power the Phoenix offense in Tuesday's win over NC State. He drove in both Elon runs with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. The former Saint Mary's Gael is tied for the team lead in RBI (13) and carries a four-game hitting streak into the UNCW series.
  • Veteran pitcher Brian Strange has solidified himself as Elon's Friday night starter. Despite taking the loss last Friday against North Carolina A&T, Strange delivered another strong outing, throwing a season-high seven innings while allowing just one Aggie hit. Strange enters the weekend leading the CAA with 29 strikeouts.
  • Following a 25-32 (13-14 CAA) season in 2025, Elon was picked in a tie for fourth in the 2026 CAA preseason poll.
  • Head coach Mike Kennedy is in his 30th season at the helm of Elon Baseball. After earning 25 wins last season, Kennedy has led the Phoenix to 24 seasons of 25 wins or more. Kennedy is a 2025-26 Elon Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
