RICHMOND, Va. – Elon sophomore left-handed pitcher
Owen Winebarger was announced as the CAA Baseball Co-Pitcher of the Week by the conference Monday morning.
Winebarger earned the win and pitched the first 6.1 innings of Elon's 2-0 victory at No. 10 NC State last Tuesday, helping secure the Phoenix's first shutout victory against the Wolfpack.
Winebarger allowed just five base runners against the Wolfpack and struck out four in his winning effort. He later made an appearance in Elon's weekend series at UNCW, allowing just two hits and one earned run to the Seahawks over three innings on Sunday.
The Marshall, Virginia, native is the second Elon pitcher to be named the CAA Pitcher of the Week this season, joining
Aidan Stieglitz.
The Phoenix will return to the diamond Tuesday as they travel to Greenville to take on East Carolina. First pitch between Elon and the Pirates will be at 6 p.m. ET.
