Elon Returns Home To Face Monmouth

Phoenix Hosts Second North Division Foe Of Season

ELON – After nine games away from Latham Park, the Elon baseball team (10-14, 3-6 CAA) returns home to face Monmouth (11-10, 7-2 CAA) for a CAA weekend series.

The matchup between the Phoenix and Hawks marks the fourth straight season where the two have met. Elon holds a 2-1 series advantage over the past three seasons with series wins in 2023 and 2024.

All three games will be streamed on FloCollege. Audio broadcasts will also be available on the Varsity Network App.

  • Elon returns home after nine straight games on the road. Elon went 2-7 during its nine-game road trip with crucial wins at No. 10 NC State and Northeastern.
  • RJ Latkowski has emerged as one of the top closers in college baseball this season. He leads the team and ranks fourth nationally with six saves, while posting a 0.73 ERA across 11 appearances.
  • Sophomore left-hander Owen Winebarger earned CAA Co-Pitcher of the Week honors last Monday and nearly repeated the feat this past week. He allowed just five hits over a career-high eight innings in Saturday's win against Northeastern.
  • Senior Jackson Alford has continued his All-CAA form from 2025, leading the Phoenix in multiple offensive categories through 24 games. He recorded his eighth multi-hit game of the season on Sunday against Northeastern and is tied for second in the CAA – and ranks eighth nationally – with 19 stolen bases.
  • Brian Strange has started six straight Friday nights for the Phoenix. The graduate student is second in the CAA in strikeouts with 39 and has struck out at least five batters in every start this season.
  • Outfielder Brian DuRoff helped power the offense during the road trip, driving in both runs in Elon's win over No. 10 NC State with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. The former Saint Mary's transfer leads the team with 18 RBIs and has reached base in 22 of 24 games.
  • Following a 25-32 (13-14 CAA) season in 2025, Elon was picked in a tie for fourth in the 2026 CAA preseason poll.
  • Head coach Mike Kennedy is in his 30th season at the helm of Elon Baseball. After earning 25 wins last season, Kennedy has led the Phoenix to 24 seasons of 25 wins or more. Kennedy is a 2025-26 Elon Sports Hall of Fame inductee.
