SNOW HILL – Behind individual medalist honors from freshman
William Carr and a final-round surge, the Elon men's golf team earned a share of the team title at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate on Sunday at Cutter Creek Golf Club.
The Phoenix fired a field-best 10-under 278 in the third round to climb from third place into a tie for first with CAA rival Campbell at 9-under for the tournament. Elon finished at 9-under 855 (275-302-278). Tournament host East Carolina (-7) placed third, followed by Harvard (+10) and Fairleigh Dickinson (+14).
Carr paced Elon's charge, claiming medalist honors at 8-under after a bogey-free 7-under 65 in the final round. The Phoenix rookie recorded three straight birdies on holes 4, 5 and 6 and added four more on the back nine at Nos. 10, 11 and 12 before delivering the decisive moment with a birdie on the par-5 18th to break a tie atop the leaderboard.
Carr was one of four Phoenix to post under-par rounds on Sunday, as fellow freshmen
Dylan Lewis and
Drew Yeagley, as well as senior
Landon Durham, each carded 1-under 71s to help Elon produce the lowest team score of the day.
Lewis finished tied for fifth at 4-under 212 (65-76-71) for his second consecutive top-10 finish. Yeagley tied for 16th at 3-over while and Durham shot 4-over to tie for 20th.
The team victory was Elon's second of the 2025-26 campaign and marked the Phoenix's sixth consecutive top-four finish dating back to last fall.
