DURHAM – The Elon women's track & field team closed out competition at the Duke Invitational on Saturday at Morris Williams Stadium with a strong showing in its final day, highlighted by a trio of Phoenix moving up the program's all-time top 10 list in the 800 meters.
Elon totaled six personal bests on the day, led by
Abby Beville and
Gabi Walker. Beville jumped into No. 3 in program history with a time of 2:08.61, while Walker, who previously owned the No. 3 time, improved upon her personal best with a 2:08.90.
Jenna Gilman also moved up to No. 8 on the program's top 10 list, clocking a personal-best 2:09.62. The Phoenix accounted for five personal bests in the 800m alone, as
Quinn Smith added a PR of 2:14.14, while
Sarah Petitjean followed close behind in 2:14.45.
Duna Viñals continued Elon's strong weekend on the track, posting a personal-best 55.57 in the 400 meters to place 11th overall.
Amelie Meier also competed in the event, finishing in 57.97.
In the sprints,
Mary Sollars turned in a personal-best 24.72 in the 200 meters.
In the field events,
Allison Mateyak recorded a personal-best mark of 11.94m (39'2.25") in the shot put.
Isabella Johnson led Elon in the event with a throw of 13.55m (44'5.50"), while
Adriana Clarke (12.67m/41'7") and
Tristin Oberg (12.30m/40'4.25") also competed.
Mia Stimpson paced Elon in the triple jump with a mark of 11.65m (38'2.75"), while
Jaqueline Zacharias posted a 10th-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 42.43m (139'2").
