WINSTON-SALEM – Jenna Gilman broke the school record in the 800-meter to highlight the Elon women's track & field team's first day at the Wake Forest Invitational at Kentner Stadium on Thursday.
Gilman, a junior, broke the 800-meter mark with a time of 2:07.21 to become the school record holder. Additionally,
Grace Lavelle set a new personal best in the 800m, with a time of 2:13.03, while
Gabi Walker was second among the Phoenix with a time of 2:12.65.
Adriana Clarke broke the 60-meter mark with a throw of 60.27m (197'9") to move into the No. 2 spot on Elon's all-time list and become just the third Phoenix to ever surpass 60 meters. Phoenix teammate
Isabella Johnson finished in third with a mark of 58.25m (191'1").
The night ended with
Jasmine Young winning her 5000m heat with a time of 16:51.77.
