ST. HELENA ISLAND, S.C. – Elon moved into third place after the second round of the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Golf Championship on Monday at Dataw Island Golf Club.
The Phoenix carded a 1-under par 287 in round two and sits at 9-under 567 through 36 holes, trailing leader UNCW (-18, 558) and second-place Campbell (-11, 565). Charleston and Towson are tied for fourth at 7-under 569 in the 10-team field.
Freshman
Dylan Lewis paced Elon with a 3-under 69 on Monday, moving into a tie for fourth individually at 4-under 140. Lewis posted four birdies on the front nine – including his first three holes of the day – and added another on the back to anchor the Phoenix lineup.
Jack Wieler is tied for 12th at 2-under 142 after a second-round 73, while
Landon Durham sits in a tie for 16th at 1-under 143 following a 74.
William Carr shot a 75 and is tied for 24th at 2-over 146, and
Drew Yeagley rebounded with a 1-under 71 to move to 5-over 149.
UNCW's lead is seven shots entering Tuesday's final round, with the team champion earning the CAA's automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
