RICHMOND, Va. – Elon women's track & field swept the Coastal Athletic Association weekly awards on Tuesday, with
Jaqueline Zacharias earning Field Athlete of the Week honors and
Mia Stimpson named Track Athlete of the Week.
Zacharias continued her strong outdoor campaign with a first-place finish in the javelin at the Charlotte Invitational, capturing the event title with a throw of 46.01 meters (150'11"). Her performance led the Phoenix on the opening day of competition and marked another standout effort for the junior, who has been the conference's top performer in the event this season; she owns the No. 1 mark in the conference at 46.75m (153'4").
Stimpson delivered a productive weekend on the track, highlighted by a personal-best performance in the 100-meter hurdles at the Charlotte Invitational. The sophomore clocked a time of 13.93 seconds, a mark that ranks No. 3 in program history and No. 5 among CAA athletes this season. She also contributed to Elon's 4x100-meter relay team that posted a time of 46.84 seconds, good for No. 9 all-time in school history.
It's the second time this season Zacharias has earned the CAA's weekly honor, having first done so on March 17. Stimpson became the sixth Phoenix to earn a weekly award so far this outdoor season.
