HIGH POINT – The Elon women's track & field team wrapped up day two of competition at the VertKlasse Meeting on Friday at Vert Stadium, highlighted by multiple top-10 program performances and a series of personal bests.
Leading the way for the Phoenix were top-10 marks from Duna Viñals in the 400-meter hurdles,
Isabella Johnson in the shot put and discus,
Amelie Meier in the 200 meters and
Mia Stimpson in the triple jump.

Viñals, a native of Arinsal, Andorra, won the 400-meter hurdles in 58.52, setting an Andorra national record while improving her No. 2 all-time in program history
Johnson bookended a huge weekend with her second and third personal-best marks in as many events, highlighted by placing sixth in the shot put with a mark of 14.40m (47'3") to move into No. 3 in program history. She followed with a victory in the discus at 50.58m (165'11"), a third personal-best effort that ranks No. 4 all-time at Elon.
On the track, Meier clocked a personal-best 24.58 in the 200 meters to finish fourth and move into a tie for No. 10 on the program's all-time list. Stimpson added a third-place finish in the triple jump with a personal-best leap of 12.22m (40'1.25"), good for No. 4 in school history.
Elon also saw personal-best performances from
Mary Sollars in the 200 meters (24.87) and
Allison Mateyak in the discus (44.68m), as well as a collegiate-best effort by
Grace Lavelle in the 800 meters (2:13.75).
In the 100-meter hurdles, Stimpson led the Phoenix with a sixth-place finish in 14.49. She was joined by
Irene Blanco Garcia (14.84),
Carolina Frada (15.17) and
Greta Urbonaviciute (15.23).
Hannah Schonhoff and
Lizzie Lopez tied for fourth in the high jump at 1.62m (5'3.75"), while Urbonaviciute cleared 1.57m (5'1.75").
Teri Pridgen posted a sixth-place finish in the 400 meters with a time of 57.52, and
Grace Wager added a fifth-place showing in the hammer throw at 47.23m (154'11").
The Phoenix closed the day with a time of 3:56.73 in the 4x400-meter relay.
