GREENVILLE – The Elon women's golf team carded a second-round 20-over par 308 on Monday at the Ironwood Invitational and is tied for seventh place at 32-over 608 (300-308) after 36 holes at Ironwood Golf & Country Club.
The Phoenix entered the day in a tie for second after an opening-round 300 but slipped in the standings following Monday's round. Tournament host East Carolina leads the field at 19-over 595 (300-295), followed closely by Georgia State at 20-over 596.
Senior
Ashley Lafontaine paced Elon in the second round, firing a 1-over 73 to move up seven spots into a tie for sixth individually. She sits at 3-over 147 (74-73) through two rounds.
Kelly Zhao remains in the top 20 despite a 7-over 79 on Monday and is tied for 17th at 7-over 151 (72-79).
Lilli Downer is tied for 42nd at 11-over 155 (74-81), while
Sakura Kawakami (80-78—158) and
Lara Rieke (83-78—161) round out the lineup in ties for 54th and 65th, respectively. Rieke led the Phoenix with two back-nine birdies in the second round, while Lafontaine and Kawakami notched one apiece.
