RICHMOND, Va. – Elon sophomore
Isabella Johnson earned weekly honors from the Coastal Athletic Association on Tuesday, being named the conference's Women's Field Athlete of the Week following a standout performance at the VertKlasse Meeting.
Johnson turned in a dominant weekend across three throwing events, recording personal bests in each. She placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 60.05 meters (197 feet), a performance that ranks No. 1 in the CAA this season and No. 21 in the East Region while moving her to No. 2 all-time at Elon.
In the shot put, Johnson finished sixth in a field of 40 with a throw of 14.40 meters (47-3), climbing to No. 1 in the CAA this season and No. 3 in program history. She capped her weekend with a victory in the discus, posting a personal-best 50.58 meters (165-11) to rank No. 4 all-time for the Phoenix and No. 6 in the conference this season.
Johnson is the third Phoenix to earn weekly accolades from the CAA so far this season.
