DURHAM – The Elon women's track and field distance group closed out the regular season Sunday at the Duke Twilight, highlighted by a record-breaking performance from
Jenna Gilman at Morris Williams Stadium.
Gilman lowered her own school record in the 800 meters, clocking 2:06.08 to place 16th. The mark shaved more than a second off her previous record of 2:07.21, set April 16 at the Wake Forest Invitational, and stood as the top performance of the day for the Phoenix.
Elon added multiple personal bests and program top-10 marks across four events. In the 5,000 meters,
Hannah Weber moved up one spot to No. 4 in program history with a personal-best 16:12.84, finishing 12th overall.
Jasmine Young (16:34.99) and
Emilia Smith (17:02.49) also recorded personal bests in the event.
Alicen Ashley delivered a top-10 program mark in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing 15th with a time of 10:44.68 to rank No. 7 in Elon history.
In the 800 meters,
Gabi Walker posted a 2:09.93 while
Grace Lavelle followed at 2:13.32.
The Phoenix also competed in the 1,500 meters, led by
Abby Beville (4:28.07) and
Quinn Smith (4:28.51), with
Winter Oaster crossing in 4:42.28.
