ELON – Elon placekicker
Luke Barnes was named a first-team FCS Football Central Preseason All-American, the organization announced Wednesday.
Barnes enters the 2026 season following a breakout sophomore campaign in which he earned Associated Press honorable mention All-America recognition. He converted 14 of 15 field-goal attempts from inside 50 yards and made all 40 of his extra-point attempts.
The Elon junior has also been named a second-team Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-American and a preseason All-Coastal Athletic Association selection.
Barnes gives Elon a first-team FCS Football Central Preseason All-American for the second consecutive season, following former Phoenix punter
Jeff Yurk's selection in 2025.
