TEE SHOTS
  • Elon is making its third consecutive appearance at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate after placing fifth in each of the past two seasons. Jack Wieler, Elon's No. 5 golfer this week, earned a share of the MBGTI individual title in 2024 and tied for third last fall, shooting a 9-under-par 207 both times.
  • All five golfers in Elon's lineup this week were mainstays throughout the 2025-26 season and helped lead the Phoenix to a runner-up finish at the 2026 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Championship this past spring. Joining Wieler, a three-time All-CAA selection, are fellow veteran Landon Durham (71.58 stroke average in 2025-26) and sophomores William Carr, Dylan Lewis and Drew Yeagley.
  • Lewis, who averaged 71.60 as a freshman last season, earned CAA All-Championship Team honors after tying for fourth with a 6-under 210.
  • Yeagley was the 2026 CAA Co-Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Phoenix since James Hockman in 2002 to be voted a conference rookie or freshman of the year. The Waxhaw native averaged 70.60 last season, the second-best scoring average on the team behind Wieler.
  • Both Carr and Durham won individual tournament titles last season. Carr was the individual medalist at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate, while Durham set Elon's 54-hole program record with a 17-under-par 196 (70-63-63) to win the Elon Phoenix Invitational.
  • The Phoenix enters year 14 under Elon Director of Golf Don Hill, who took over the program in 2013-14 and guided Elon to its first Division I conference title in 2025. Hill has led Elon to four consecutive top-two finishes at the CAA Championship dating back to 2022.
  • Elon has three additional tournaments on its 2026 fall slate: the JT Poston Invitational (Sept. 13-15), the West Bay Collegiate (Oct. 5-6) and the Elon Phoenix Invitational (Oct. 12-13).
