ELON – Elon football concludes its two-game road trip Saturday as the Phoenix travels to Rhode Island for its CAA opener against the No. 8/13 Rams. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The game will mark Elon's first trip to Rhode Island since 2022 and their third every trip to The Ocean State.
 
The Phoenix enters the weekend 2-0 for the first time since 2009 after posting a 38-0 victory at Davidson Saturday. Elon has outscored its first two opponents 80-7, opening the season with a 42-7 win over Glenville State before recording its first shutout since 2022 last Saturday.

SETTING THE STAGE

• The Phoenix and Rams will meet for the eighth time overall with all matchups coming as members of the CAA. Elon has lost two straight to Rhode Island after winning four straight games from 2017-2021.
• Elon and Rhode Island met last season at Rhodes Stadium with the Rams prevailing with a 34-20 win. Four different Phoenix including Tony Hart III, Brodie Carroll and Jevean Brown delivered double-digit tackle performances. Brown had his best day as a Phoenix, finishing with 10 tackles, 2.0 tackles-for-loss, a sack, a forced fumble and a pass breakup.
• The Phoenix has been consistent during head coach Tony Trisciani's tenure. In five straight seasons, Elon has been .500 or better in the CAA with at least four conference wins per season. No team in the CAA has a better active streak. Coming into Saturday, Trisciani has 10 career wins against FCS top-25 opponents with half of those victories on the road.
• With the win on Saturday against Davidson, Trisciani became just the fifth Elon head football coach to reach the 40-win mark. Alongside Trisciani, only "Red" Wilson (72), Jerry Tolley (49), "Peahead" Walker (45) and Al Seagraves (40) have reached the 40-win plateau with the maroon and gold.

 
DOMINATING D                           

• Elon's defense has set the tone during the Phoenix's 2-0 start, allowing just seven points through the first two games of the 2026 season. The Phoenix has outscored Glenville State and Davidson 80-7, including a 38-0 shutout of the Wildcats.
• Elon has surrendered just 384 total yards through two games, holding Glenville State to 133 yards before limiting Davidson to 251. Opponents have also managed only 99 rushing yards on 43 attempts, an average of 49.5 yards per game and 2.3 yards per carry. The Phoenix has been particularly effective at keeping opponents behind the chains.
• Through two games, Elon has recorded 11 tackles for loss and two sacks while allowing just 20 first downs. Davidson converted only 3-of-16 third-down attempts and 2-of-6 fourth downs, while the Phoenix turned away the Wildcats four times in their own territory.

 
THREE-HEADED MONSTER  

• Elon's three-headed backfield continued to produce in the Phoenix's 38-0 win at Davidson. Freshman Kamerin McDowell-Moore led the way with a career-high 88 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns.
• The Tarboro native became the first Elon true freshman to record two rushing touchdowns in a game since Malcolm Summers against William & Mary in 2015.
• McDowell-Moore, Jimmyll Williams and Dan Frederick have given the Phoenix multiple options in the backfield through the first two games. The trio combined for 210 rushing yards in the season-opening victory over Glenville State and followed that performance by helping Elon control the game on the ground against Davidson. Williams joined McDowell-Moore with two rushing touchdowns against the Wildcats.

 
MATCHING ELITE ERAS                   

• Elon has established one of the most consistent stretches of success in the program's FCS history. The Phoenix won 26 conference games from 2021-25, the most over any five-year span since Elon moved to the FCS level.
• The Phoenix also posted a .500 or better overall record in each of the five seasons from 2021-25. It marks the first time since 1984-88 that Elon has put together five consecutive seasons at .500 or better.
• Elon has carried over success into 2026, opening the season 2-0 for the first time since 2009. With a victory at No. 8/13 Rhode Island, Elon would improve to 3-0 for the first time since 1999.

 
CAA WEEKLY RECOGNITION 

• Elon redshirt freshman defensive back Codey Larkins and freshman running back Kamerin McDowell-Moore earned CAA Football weekly honors Monday. Larkins was named the CAA Special Teams Player of the Week, while McDowell-Moore earned CAA Rookie of the Week honors.
• Larkins made a pair of pivotal plays on special teams in the first half of Elon's 38-0 road win over Davidson on Saturday night when he recovered a muffed punt on the Wildcats' opening possession before blocking and recovering a punt at the Davidson 7-yard line later in the half.
• McDowell-Moore followed an impressive Week 0 performance with a career day against the Wildcats. The Tarboro native rushed for a career-high 88 yards on 14 carries and scored two touchdowns.
