Biography

Fall 2010: Advanced to the ITA Carolina Regional quarterfinals with doubles partner Philip Nemec • went 2-1 in the top doubles flight during the UVa Classic • also went 2-1 in singles at the UVa Classic • entered the spring portion of the schedule as part of the region’s seventh-ranked doubles team with Nemec • will begin the spring ranked in a tie for fourth in Elon’s NCAA Division I history with 46 dual singles victories.

2009-10:
Compiled an 11-15 singles mark, playing primarily at number two • posted a combined doubles mark of 13-12, playing with both Philip Nemec and Alberto Rojas • was a winner at number two singles during Elon’s match vs. No. 73 USC Upstate • picked up a win at number three singles in the Phoenix’s match with No. 60 East Tennessee State • with Rojas, earned an 8-6 decision at number one doubles in Elon’s tilt at No. 48 NC State • paired with Eric Turner to go 2-1 in doubles and earn a share of the doubles title at the Elon Invitational during the fall • Academic All-SoCon recipient.

2008-09:
Played primarily at the No. 4 singles position, winning nine SoCon matches • won six of last seven matches in straight sets to close out the year • posted singles and doubles victory in Elon’s 4-3 win over North Florida • clinched a 4-2 win for Elon in the first round of the conference tournament • teamed with Oscar Podlewski for a doubles win in the SoCon semis against CofC • earned second-team all-league honors in doubles with teammate Carlin Murray after posting a 7-1 SoCon record • won three doubles matches in the fall ITA Regional Tournament, winning twice in qualifying action and once in the main draw • Academic All-SoCon honoree.

2007-08: Established the highest winning percentage (.783) on the team, finishing the spring at 18-5 (8-1 SoCon) in singles while playing predominantly at No. 6 • defeated Sawyer Duncan of Furman in the finals of the league tournament • finished 14-8 in dual doubles matches • won the singles championship in the Orange Flight of the UNC Invitational in the fall • teamed with Mason Schermerhorn to advance to the finals of the UNC Invitational B doubles flight • earned the squad’s Mr. Consistency award.

Prep: Achieved lofty regional and national rankings during his senior season, finishing in the top 10 of the Southern Section of the USTA and among the top 100 high school seniors nationally • won the 4A state singles title his senior year • won multiple honors, including team MVP and PAC-6 Player of the Year accolades • participated in Junior Davis Cup and National Zonal team competitions.

Personal: Chase is the son of Chuck and Beth Helpingstine • majoring in finance.
