RICHMOND, VA - The Fightin' Christians improved their record to 5-4 with victories over Hampton (15-5, 13-15, 16-14, 15-13), Maryland Eastren Shore (15-0, 15-1, 15-0) and UNC Greensboro (10-15, 15-10, 15-5, 15-13) before falling in the championship game to Virginia Commonwealth 7-15, 5-15, 15-9, 12-15 at the VCU Invitational held from September 10-11 in Richmond, VA.

All-Tournament Team members Katie Ruoff and Eli Mould led Elon throughout the entire tournament. Mould finished the touney with 38 kills and 33 digs, as Ruoff added 41 kills and 11 total blocks (3 BS, 8 BA). Mould leads the squad in kills with 90 (3.03 kpg). Lori Fortune ended the weekend setting 59 assists and Emerald Zemedkun added 47 set assists. Fortune holds the team lead with 199 set assists (7.37 apg).

Hampton completed the weekend with a record of 1-3 (tourney) 3-5 (overall), Maryland Eastern Shore finished 0-4/0-8, UNC Greensboro posted a record of 2-2/4-2 and VCU imporved to 4-0/5-3.
