Draper, VA -- Elon trails Big South foe Winthrop by six strokes following the first round of the Chris Cothran Radford Intercollegiate. The 287 shot by Elon on Monday places them ahead of Western Carolina (290), Appalachain State (296) and Radford (314). The field consists of 14 teams.

Mark Hunsicker is leading the charge for the Phoenix with a first round 70, good enough to place him in a second place tie in the individual scoring. Matt Donovan and Keith Orlen are in 10th with a 72, while Ryan Loucks shot a 73 and sits in an 18th place tie.

The Phoenix will try to grab first away from Winthrop on Tuesday in the final round.
