ELON COLLEGE, NC -- Duran Martin, Kevin Johnson and Devin McCarron all scored goals as Elon knocked off defending Big South champion Radford 3-1 at Rudd Field on Saturday.

Winless in league play last season and picked to finish last this fall, the Phoenix (4-2, 1-0) gained its first-ever Big South victory while outshooting the Highlanders (4-2, 0-1) 13-7.

With four victories after just the third weekend of the 2000 campaign, Elon (3-14 a year ago) has already won more games than it did last season.

The Phoenix hosts Big South preseason favorite Liberty at Rudd Field on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
