ELON COLLEGE, NC -- Elon's men's basketball assistant coach James Johnson, a native of Powhatan, VA, was named by Rivals.com as one of the top-20 assistant coaches at a non-high major program. The voting was done by assistant coaches from around the country.
The list was topped by Hofstra's Tom Pecora. Jorge Fernandez (Central Florida) and Mike Jones (Richmond) tied for second in the voting. The full list can be viewed at www.rivals100hoops.com.
Johnson just completed his first season with the Phoenix after serving seven years as an assistant at Ferrum College (1993-95), Longwood College (1995-96), Hargrave Military Academy (1997-97) and Old Dominion University (1997-00).
