ELON COLLEGE, NC -- In a battle of Big South Conference rivals, Elon beat UNC Asheville 5-2 for its third consecutive victory at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.

The Phoenix (7-4, 4-1 Big South) swept the three doubles matches to start Elon's run. Sarah Benhaim and Imre Kwast (8-3) defeated Stefanie Shuba and Ashley Jones 8-3 at number one, Jennifer Fulmer and Julianne Treme (6-2) conquered Nancy Livesay and Sarah Cox 8-2 at two and Lindsay Kinnaird and Nicole Richie (5-3) decisioned Emily Acker-Estes and Stacy Withowski 8-3 at three.

Elon took four of the six singles bouts as Kwast (9-2) ousted Livesay 6-2, 6-1 at number two, Treme (6-4) overcame Jones 6-2, 6-4 at three, Fulmer (5-6) came back to beat Acker-Estes 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 at four and Roberta McCue (6-5) blanked Withowski 6-0, 6-0 at six.

The Bulldogs (6-12, 2-5) claimed two singles matches. Shuba overcame Benhaim 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 at number one and Cox beat Aubrey Rhoads 6-2, 6-2 at five.
