Phoenix Women Place Ninth at Lady Seahawk Invitational

WALLACE, NC--Danah Ford and Karen Dennison carded 2-under-par 70's on the final day to spark Indiana to first place in the UNCW Lady Seahawk Invitational Tuesday at River Landing Golf Club. The Hoosiers, who trailed Campbell by one stroke heading into the final round, fired a 289 to edge the Camels for the team title.

The Phoenix shot a 305 in the final round of play to move them into a ninth place finish. Over the three round competition, Elon shot 933 (311-312-305). The Phoenix finished ahead of Big South Conference opponents Coastal Carolina (10th/315-308-310=933) and Charleston Southern (11th/312-315-309=936).

Individually, East Carolina's Jessica Krasny shot a 3-under-par 69 Tuesday for a three-stroke victory over Campbell's Sharon O'Neill on the Par 72, 5,944-yard layout along the Neuse River in Southeastern North Carolina.

Junior Sammy Sue Wilson led the way for the Phoenix by shooting a 72 in the final round of play (77-79-72=228). Sophomore Morgan Olds added a 79 on Tuesday to place her 34th with a two-day total of 232 (76-77-79). Becky Poindexter, a sophomore, shot a three-round total of 235 (79-77-79) to finish in a tie for 34th. Sophomore Alison Mangini (t-49th/84-79-75=238) and senior Katie Knoepffler (t-63rd/79-84-82=245) rounded out the Phoenix five.
