WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Elon's Sammy Sue Wilson shot a five-over-par 77 to snare a share of 15th place after first-round action at the 124-golfer William & Mary Invitational women's golf tournament Saturday on the 6,018-yard Ford's Colony-Marsh Hawk Golf Course.
Wilson followed up her front-nine 39 with a back-nine 38 to lead the Phoenix (316), who will enter final-round action on Sunday in eighth place in the 20-team field, trailing Yale (307), William & Mary (308), James Madison (310), Princeton (311), Ohio (312), Longwood (314) and Western Michigan (315).
Elon leads Marshall (318), Methodist (320), Ball State (322), Bucknell (323), St. Francis of Pennsylvania (324), Toledo (324), Rutgers (331), Brown (332), Dartmouth (333), High Point (333), Pennsylvania (335) and Siena (349).
Morgan Olds (Tied-30th/38-41–79), Kristin Tremoulis (Tied-30th/39-40–79), Alison Mangini (Tied-46th/42-39–81) and Kelly Baytos (Tied-67th/42-41–83) are all representing the Phoenix in the event.
