EDMONTON, ALERTA, CANADA -- Back-to-back two-out singles in the bottom of the seventh handed Canada the 2-1 win over Team USA and Elon head softball coach Patti Raduenz Monday night at the IBAF World Cup of Women's Baseball at Telus Field. The USA Baseball Women's National Team (WNT) held a 1-0 lead through the top of the seventh, but could not seal the final out to preserve its perfect record at the first World Cup.
Team USA got on the scoreboard in the second when Judy O'Brien's shot to shortstop was misplayed by Erin Forman, allowing Donna Mills to score from second to give Team USA a 1-0 lead.
The Americans have Tuesday and Wednesday off, but will look to rebound Thursday against Chinese Taipei (0-2) at 3:00 p.m. The game can be followed at 5:00 p.m. on USA Baseball.
