CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The Elon men's tennis team opened play at the ITA Regionals being held at both North Carolina and Duke on Wednesday as Austin Fenn and Sebastian Bredberg each played matches.

Fenn won his first match, defeating Adnre Nogueira from Hampton 6-3, 6-1.  Fenn then lost in the qualifying round to East Tennessee State's Lisandro Picardo 6-4, 7-6(6)  Picardo was an All-Southern Conference selection last year.

Bredberg fell in the first round to Ben Zink from North Carolina State 6-3, 6-3. 

Elon's Damon Gooch will be playing Thursday in the main draw against Scott Blackmon from Georgia Tech.  Gooch and Fenn will also hit the courts later in the afternoon in the main draw of the doubles action and will play Jamie Cueller and Geraldo Knorr of South Carolina.
