AUGUSTA, Ga. – Samantha Widmer tallied a five-over-par 77 as Elon finished in 10th place in its fall season finale Tuesday afternoon at the America's Choice Mortgage Lady Jaguar Invitational women's golf tournament at Forest Hills Golf Club.
Widmer (17th/81-77–158) cracked the top-20 in the 68-player field. Competing as an individual, Elon's Fredrique Bruell (Tied-24th/81-80–161) also landed in the tournament's top-25. Augusta State's Lauren Smith (71-75–146) nabbed medalist honors.
In addition to Widmer and Bruell, Kristin Tremoulis (Tied-48th/89-78–167), Kelly Baytos (Tied-55th/87-83–170), Danielle Mills (58th/87-86–173) and Taylor Johnson (59th/92-82–174) all lowered their scores in second-round action for the Phoenix in the two-day, two-round event.
Host Augusta State (302-299–601) claimed the team title in the 13-squad tournament, followed in the top-five by Notre Dame (310-307–617), East Tennessee State (316-310–626), Arkansas State (314-319–633) and Western Carolina (322-314–636).
Florida International (321-321–642), Jacksonville State (326-319–645), Birmingham-Southern (323-323–646), Florida State (327-336–663), Elon (344-320–664), Richmond (336-338–674), James Madison (347-329–676) and Wyoming (344-340–684) rounded out the field.
