ELON, N.C. -- Elon University Athletics and volleyball head coach Mary Tendler today announced the 2005 slate of games for the Phoenix. The season schedule features three tournaments along with three other non-conference dates. Elon will play 11 matches at home in "The Nest" in 2005.

The season opens on August 27 when the Phoenix visits Winthrop for a 7:00 p.m. match. That will be followed by tournaments at Akron, William & Mary and UNC Asheville during which Tendler's squad will face off with Akron, West Virginia, Oakland, Liberty, William & Mary, St. John's, Binghamton, UNC Asheville and Samford.

In other non-Southern Conference action, Elon will travel to High Point and host both Charlotte and North Carolina A&T.

The Phoenix begins SoCon action on September 23 at UNC Greensboro in a 7:00 p.m. match. Elon's first home date of the season will be on September 25 when Georgia Southern comes to town for a 1:00 p.m. contest. Elon will face every league opponent in a home-in-home series with the exception of College of Charleston and The Citadel. The lone meeting with the Cougars, the SoCon's representative in the NCAA Tournament last year, will be at home on October 25 at 7:00 p.m. while Elon will square off with the Bulldogs in Charleston, S.C. on October 18.
