Phoenix Beats Indians, Rams

In the doubles matches against Catawba, Deanna Bailey and Jenn Tucci (over Lauren Fluegge and K.T. Rebadow 8-3 at No. 1), Whitney Butcher and Francie Rudolph (over Andi Binney and Julia McKinzie 8-5 at No. 2) and Paige Kensrue and Alli Benton (over Meri Cartmill and Nikiah Knox 8-2 at No. 3) were the winners.

In singles play versus the Indians, Bailey (over Fluegge 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1), Tucci (over McKinzie 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2), Kensure (over Binney 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3), Butcher (over Cartmill 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5) and Laura Graybill (over Knox 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6) all won for the Phoenix. Catawba picked up a win at No. 4 when Rebadow overcame Rudolph 7-5, 7-5.

In doubles with Winston-Salem State, Kensrue and Butcher (over Terese Lavan and Amanda Walker 8-3 at No. 1) and Rudolph and Graybill (over Carmen Davis and Ashley Hopper 8-0 at No. 2) won. Elon also won at No. 3 by default.

In singles action versus the Rams, Bailey (over Lavan 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1), Butcher (over Walker 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2), Graybill (over Davis 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3), Benton (over Hopper 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4) and Allison Carney (over Jessica Smith 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5) were all victorious. The Phoenix also won at No. 6 by default.

Catawba hosts Limestone at 2 p.m. Monday. Elon hosts East Carolina at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Winston-Salem State visits Campbell at noon next Saturday.
