Goss received First Team All-Southern Conference accolades while Rijavec, Dahlen and Zeigler all earned a spot on the second team.
Goss, a team captain, earned First Team All-Southern Conference honors after the 2006 season. She started 52 games last season and tallied 116 putouts and 103 assists at second base while becoming Elon’s all-time assists leader with 349. Goss (pictured left) was second on the team with a .287 batting average, notching four doubles, three triples and 14 RBI as Elon’s lead-off hitter. Goss also earned ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District III accolades last season.
Rijavec led the Elon outfield with 53 putouts and 18 assists from centerfield in her first season with the Phoenix. She posted a .255 batting average with 37 hits on 145 at bats while recording eight doubles and 17 RBI. She registered a .345 slugging percentage and a .372 on base percentage while leading the team with 24 walks.
Dahlen (pictured right) led the team with 128 assists, which ranks fifth in the Elon record book for single-season assists, while also tallying 78 putouts after transitioning to shortstop for her sophomore campaign in 2006. She posted a .269 batting average and recorded six doubles, four home runs and 19 RBI while starting 48 games. Dahlen also notched a .385 slugging percentage and was second on the squad with eight sacrifice hits.
Zeigler, selected to the Preseason All-SoCon team as a utility player, started 53 games as catcher or designated player in 2006. She earned February Southern Conference Athlete of the Month accolades and was also named SoCon Athlete of the Week once. She led the team at the plate with a .343 batting average, collecting 60 hits in 175 at bats. Zeigler notched 11 doubles, one triple and four home runs while posting a school-record 43 RBI. Zeigler, who struck out just 16 times, tallied a .486 slugging percentage. She posted 112 putouts and 21 assists behind the plate with just three errors for a .978 fielding percentage. Zeigler earned First Team All-Southern Conference honors following her freshman campaign.
Elon opens the 2007 season on Feb. 14 in a 2 p.m. doubleheader with North Carolina at East Field.
