Two Elon Records Fall at Tiger Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. – Sophomore Jennine Strange broke the Elon University women's indoor track record in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.80 Saturday, placing fourth out of a field of 71 competitors at the Tiger Invitational on the Clemson University campus.

The previous Phoenix milestone of 2:18.12 was set by former All-Southern Conference standout Alana Black during the 2005-06 campaign. Strange currently ranks third in the conference in the 800-meter run.

Freshman Krystal Paszkeicz continues to break Elon’s throwing records – this time in the weight throw. Her throw of 11.63 meters surpasses Nia Douglas’ mark of 11.55 meters set back during the 2002-03 season.

Junior Katelyn Ealer placed eighth out of 33 athletes in the 5000-meter run. Her time of 18:30.18 currently ranks her second in the SoCon. Meanwhile, freshman Emily Fournier finished eighth out of 51 participants in the 3000-meter run, clocking in at 10:37.02.

Next Saturday, the Phoenix will compete at the University of North Carolina Relays as a final tune-up for the SoCon Championships the following weekend (Feb.29-March 1).
