ELON, N.C.- The Elon women’s track and field return to action this March 28-29 at the Liberty University Invitational in Lynchburg, Va.
The team is off to a strong start to the outdoor season following the Coastal Carolina Invite. The team took 12 top-10 finished, with Jennine Strange finishing first in the 800m run and Krystal Paszkeicz setting a new school record in the shot put.
Competing for the Phoenix this weekend in the field events will be Courtney Weathers in the high jump and Veronica Day, Monique Vines, Lauren Hawkesworth, and Brittany Dawson in the long jump. Day, Vines and Hawkesworth will also be competing in the triple jump. Throwing for the Phoenix will be Justine Robertson who is scheduled to compete in the discus, hammer, and shot put.
The 4x100 meter relay team consists of Sarah Skogen, Hawkesworth, Day, and Vines.
Hurdling for Elon will be Andrea March in the 100m and 400m-hurdles, with Julie McGowan also competing in the 400m-hurdles.
Vines, Hawkesworth, and Dawson are running the 100m-dash, while Skogen, Melissa Turowski, and Cara Maschi are set to run the 400m-dash. Running in the 200m-dash will be Skogen, Day, and Turowski.
Strange, Taylor Shaw, Grace Ilevbare, and Jenny Pearce take to the track in the 800m-run, while Ellen Boyle rounds out the field in the 5,000m-run.
Finally, Elon will have two teams competing in the 4x400m-relay. The “A” team is comprised of Skogen, Strange, March, and Turowski, while the “B” team consists of Shaw, Ilevbare, Maschi, and McGowan.
