Elon Finishes 14th at Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Steve Dressell sported a one-under-par 71 in final-round action – the lowest Elon round of the event – as the Phoenix ended up in 14th place out of 24 teams at the 39th annual Furman Intercollegiate men’s golf tournament Sunday evening on the 6,800-yard Furman University Golf Course.

Led by medalist Jonathan Hodge (69-73-71–213), Chattanooga (287-291-296–874) claimed the team title of the three-day, three-round, 54-hole tournament. Clemson (292-291-294–877) finished second, followed by South Carolina (290-294-298–882), Western Carolina (295-302-291–888), Vanderbilt (293-301-294–888), Virginia Tech (299-288-303–890), South Carolina-Aiken (298-303-290–891), Furman (297-302-295–894), Ohio State (294-306-294–894) and Francis Marion (297-310-292–899) in the top 10.

North Florida (305-299-296–900) placed 11th, followed by East Carolina (300-294-307–901), UNC Wilmington (306-306-294–906), Elon (307-305-299–911), Charleston Southern (307-302-304–913), Presbyterian (307-301-309–917), Old Dominion (313-303-303–919), Wofford (313-303-305–921), Rhode Island (312-309-302–923), Appalachian State (312-304-309–925), Samford (296-319-315–930), Marshall (320-308-304–932), Winthrop (309-313-310–932) and Davidson (303-323-310–936).

Jimmy Lytle (Tied-54th/79-73-76–228) led the Phoenix in the 132-player field, followed by Jayson Judy (Tied-64th/73-80-76–229), Dressell (Tied-86th/87-74-71–232), Justin Newton (Tied-96th/75-78-82–235) and Phil Bartholomew (Tied-112th/80-82-76–238).
