McFadden Leads Elon to Fifth After Two Rounds

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Tara McFadden shot a tournament-low round of 66 in her second round of the day on her way to a 139 for the day (-3) to sit atop the leaderboard of the 2009 Lady Pirate Intercollegiate.  McFadden's efforts have the Elon Phoenix (302-298--600) sitting in fifth-place in the 15-team tournament following Monday's two rounds.  The squads will play the final round of the event on Tuesday from the Greenville Country Club.
 
McFadden followed up her round of 73 with the 66 and currently holds a two stroke advantage over East Carolina's Abby Bools.  The field consists of 84 golfers.
 
Shannon Prunty is tied for 21st after carding a 151 (74-77) on Monday.  Diana Davis posted a 152 (77-75) to sit in a 27th-place tie through 36 holes.  Elon's team was rounded out by Kelsey Johnson (T58th; 78-80--158) and Lauren Lebak (81st; 87-82--169).
 
Sixth-first-ranked East Tennessee State (296-290) and 57th-ranked Georgia State (293-293) each shot 586 through their two rounds to lead the event.  Sitting between those two sides and Elon are host and 84th-ranked East Carolina (296-293--589) and Xavier (301-295--596).
 
The Phoenix currently holds the edge over SoCon rival and 65th-ranked UNC Greensboro (6th; 302-301--603) as well as teams such as 56th-rated Michigan (T7th; 308-300--608), 60th-ranked Maryland (11th; 305-306--611) and Miami (13th; 317-305).  The field features nine teams ranked in the Golfweek top-100.
