ELON, N.C. – The Elon volleyball team will join high schools and colleges from around the country when it participates in Dig Pink, an initiative that raises money and awareness for the prevention of breast cancer. This year’s Dig Pink match will be on October 17 at 2 p.m. when the Phoenix welcomes Georgia Southern to Alumni Gym. All money raised will be donated to the Side-Out Foundation.
“The Dig Pink match is a very meaningful event for all of us and we encourage everyone to join us in our efforts to fight this terrible disease,” head coach Mary Tendler said. “We hope to challenge the $5,400 standard that Davidson set last year.”
Fans can help Elon reach it’s $2,000 goal for the 2009 Dig Pink campaign by clicking
here and making a one-time donation. The team will also be selling t-shirts for $12 at each home match during the month of October. Fans who will be in attendance on October 17 are encouraged to wear pink.
The Elon women’s soccer team will also be supporting Dig Pink when it hosts Chattanooga on October 16.
