FLORENCE, S.C. - Phil Bartholomew led the Elon men’s golf team to a sixth-place finish with a tie for 13th at the 2009 SoCon Championship at the Country Club of South Carolina in Florence, S.C. The team posted a three-round score of 883, while Bartholomew fired a three-day total of 217, including a two under par score of 70 in the final round. Bartholomew finished among the participants in birdies with 11.
Chattanooga took home the championship, posting a total of 852, led by Fredrik Qvicker who tied for second individually with a score of 211. Georgia Southern (854), Western Carolina (864), Furman (872) and Wofford (879) rounded out the top five team performances. Drew Lethem of Georgia Southern took home the individual title with a three-round score of 211, including back-to-back one under par scores of 71.
Scott Hockemeyer finished in a tie for 19th with a three day score of 220. Hockemeyer parred the final round after going one-under in the second round of the tournament.
Mike Fekete finished the tournament in a tie for 26th, posting a 225, including a 78 in round one. Fekete also made par on 36 holes.
Randall Andersen came in 31st with a three-day total of 226, followed by
Jayson Judy, who tied for 32nd with a score of 227. Judy came in at two over par in the final round and made par on 34 holes over the three rounds.
