Phoenix and Demon Deacons to Collide at Greensboro Coliseum

– Fresh off a win on Monday evening in the newly renovated Alumni Gym, the Elon men’s basketball team will be on display on Saturday night when it hosts the Wake Forest Demon Deacons at the Greensboro Coliseum. The game is scheduled to tip at 8 p.m. This is the first of two contests that the Phoenix will host in the historic Greensboro Coliseum, home of the 2011 ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament. Tickets are still available by calling the Elon Athletics Ticket Office at 336.278.6750.

Free Throws:
• The Phoenix is 34-121 against current members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
• Elon has had more meetings against Wake Forest than any other ACC team, this being the 44th meeting.
• The last time Elon defeated one of the current members of the ACC was in 2005 when the Phoenix went on the road to defeat the Oliver Purnell coached Clemson Tigers, 74-69, on Dec. 30, 2005.
• Elon last beat Wake Forest on Jan. 21, 1922, earning a 29-24 victory.
• The Phoenix will be looking to start the season 2-1 for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign.

Last Time Out:
• Elon got its first regular-season win in the newly renovated Alumni Gym on Monday night with a 99-68 win over Col. of New Jersey.
• Freshman Jack Isenbarger posted his second straight game with 20+ points, shooting a blazing 10-of-14 for a career-best 29 points. The guard netted 6-of-7 from long range.
• After two games, Isenbarger is averaging 25.5 points and shooting 68% from the field.
Chris Long was perfect on the night, hitting all six field goal attempts and four free throws.
• Junior Terrance Birdette tacked on a personal-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting.
• In two games, Elon has drained 14 three-pointers already this year. The Phoenix is shooting 44% from downtown.
• After getting outrebounded 26-16 in the first half at South Carolina, Elon has outgained its opponents 69-48 on the glass in the last three periods.
