ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Tara McFadden led Elon's charge up the leaderboard on day two of the JMU Eagle Landing Invite on Monday as she carded a second-round score of 71, one-under par, to move the Phoenix women's golf teams up two spots to eighth place. The Phoenix has a tournament score of 613 (315-298). The final round of the three-day event will be held at the Eagle Landing Golf Club on Tuesday.
McFadden, who started her second round on the back nine, was even par through 11 holes before posting a birdie at number three. Coupled with a round of 81 yesterday, McFadden's 152 has her tied for 22nd after two rounds. She is also the top Elon player on the board.
One stroke back at 153 (76-77) is
Diana Davis who is tied for 27th after two rounds.
Kelsey Johnson is also among those players tied for 27th. Her 153 came after rounds of 78 and 75.
Lauren Lebak also notched a second-round score of 75 to give her a two-day total of 155 (80-75). Lebak sits tied for 38th.
Dani Mullin rounds out the Phoenix field. Mullin's 163 (86-77) is tied for 76th in the field of 96.
Individually, Illinois' Hailey Koschmann held her spot atop the leaderboard with a two-under 70 on day two. She has a two-round total of 139 (69-70) and is five strokes better than Chattanooga's Emma de Groot (74-70--144).
Central Arkansas continues to lead the field, adding a 297 to yesterday's score of 299. The Bears total of 596 is three strokes better than South Florida (303-296--599) who sits second. Illinois (308-294--602), Florida Gulf Coast (305-302--607) and Stetson (305-304--609) round out the top-five. Kennesaw State (304-307) and 33rd-ranked Chattanooga (316-295) are tied for sixth with a 611.
The Phoenix enters Tuesday's final round with a one-stroke advantage on East Carolina (311-303--614). Elon also leads Kansas State (313-306--619), Jacksonville (312-308--620), host James Madison (316-307--623), Georgetown (319-305--624), Longwood (317-308--625), Iowa (330-310--640), Yale (326-314--640) and High Point (329-329--658).
