GREENSBORO, N.C. – Participating in the North Carolina East-West All-Star Girls‚ soccer game, incoming Elon freshman Jennifer McGorty helped the West team to a 4-1 victory over the East squad at the UNCG Soccer Stadium earlier this week. McGorty, a forward out of Northwest Guilford High School, scored a goal in the win.  Her tally came at the 59:54 mark.

McGorty comes to Elon after leading Northwest Guilford in scoring in 2007 and 2008. She is a three-time all-conference, all-area and all-region selection and a member of the ‚91 Spartan CASL Elite club team. McGorty, one of 10 Phoenix signees for 2010, led CASL to state cup championships in 2003, 2005 and 2007 as well as state cup finalist appearances in 2004 and 2006.

The Elon women‚s soccer team will kick off the 2010 season with a home contest against Atlantic Coast Conference foe Virginia Tech on Friday, August 20 at 7 p.m.
