FINAL RESULTS
MORGANTON, N.C. -- A third round score of 294 helped the Elon Phoenix men's golf team gain one place in the final standings of the Donald Ross Intercollegiate on Tuesday. Elon finished the three-round tournament with a mark of 894 (302-298-294) to place nine out of 11 teams.
The Phoenix's top performer was
Stuart Kaufman who placed in a tie for 21st among the 64-golfer field. Kaufman finished with a 219 (74-71-74).
Tanner Norton placed 35th after shooting a 224 (75-76-73) while
John Somers was two strokes back in a tie for 36th with a 226 (75-76-75).
Tied for 40th was
Matthew Brady who fired a 74 on his final round on his way to a tournament score of 227 (78-75-74). He was one shot better than teammate
Blayze DiPasquale who tied for 42nd with a mark of 228 (78-77-73).
Gardner-Webb's Kristopher Gray and Presbyterian's Matt Sizemore shared medalist honors with a score of 203.
Lynn took home the team title after posting a three-round score of 853 (286-282-285). Gardner-Webb (296-284-278--858) was second and Presbyterian (294-285-291) finished third. SoCon rivals Western Carolina (285-292-294--871) and Appalachian State (292-286-293--871) tied for fourth.
Elon's next tournament will be Oct. 23-25 when the Phoenix heads to Kitty Hawk, N.C. to participate in the ODU/Outerbanks Collegiate.
