CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Elon University women’s tennis team wrapped action this weekend at the ITA Regionals in Chapel Hill, N.C., as the Phoenix had several impressive performances against top competition from all across the region.
 
Bryn Khoury and Frida Jansaker both earned wins for the Phoenix in the round of 32 in the qualifying singles draw. Khoury earned a 6-2, 6-3 decision over Charlotte’s Natsuko Takayanagi before falling in the next round to Wake Forest’s Brigita Bercyte. Jansaker picked up a three-set win over NC State’s Sophie Nelson, 6-2, 2-6, 6-1, before dropping a 6-2, 6-3, match to UNCW’s Christina Riley in the next round.
 
In doubles action, Jansaker and Khoury picked up an 8-4 victory over Appalachian State’s Jennifer Ansari and Gabby Gabriel in the first round before falling 8-0 to the top-seeded Clemson duo of Josipa Bek and Keri Wong.
 
Maria Camara Ruiz and Jordan Johnston picked up a big win in doubles action, as the duo registered an 8-0 decision North Carolina A&T’s Cayla Cross and Azeib Nigatu.

Elon concludes its fall season on Nov. 4-6 with the Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va.
